Change to your home directory:
cd ~

Edit .Xdefaults:
emacs .Xdefaults

Add the following line:
emacs.font: -misc-fixed-medium-r-semicondensed--13-*-*-*-c-60-iso8859-1

Save and close the file:
Ctrl-X-S-X-C
